How CAMP Systems puts a grounded answer on 84% of aviation support cases
CAMP Systems, part of Hearst, provides aircraft maintenance tracking and related software for business aviation operators worldwide. IrisAgent gives CAMP's support team grounded answers on incoming Zendesk cases and powers an AI search experience that answers from CAMP's own documentation.

The Challenge
In aviation, support answers feed directly into maintenance decisions. Operators, directors of maintenance, and technicians rely on CAMP to track inspections, compliance items, and component history, and they expect precise answers.
- Precision is non-negotiable. A vague or invented answer about a maintenance record, a due item, or a compliance workflow is not acceptable in an industry built on traceability.
- Deep, specialized product knowledge. Questions reference aircraft models, maintenance programs, and CAMP-specific workflows. Generic chatbots and keyword search could not handle them reliably.
- Steady, global volume. Operators fly around the clock and across time zones, so thousands of cases arrive every month and knowledge sits with a limited pool of experts.
- Knowledge spread across years of tickets. Many correct answers existed only inside past resolved cases, not in the published documentation.
The Solution: Grounded AI on Zendesk and AI Search
IrisAgent deployed on top of CAMP's existing Zendesk help desk and knowledge base, starting with a proof of concept that was measured daily before rollout.
What was implemented:
- Grounded answers on incoming cases. Each new Zendesk case gets an AI answer drawn only from CAMP documentation and previously resolved cases, with sources, so agents verify instead of research.
- AI search that answers or steps aside. Customers ask questions in natural language and get answers backed by CAMP articles. When the documentation does not cover a question, the AI says so instead of guessing.
- Daily quality review during the proof of concept. Every answer's cited articles were checked against the source during the rollout, so CAMP saw accuracy on its own questions before expanding.
The Results
Across June to September 2026, measured in production:
- 84% of support cases arrive with a grounded answer. Agents start from a source-backed AI answer on 84% of cases instead of researching from scratch.
- 80% of AI search questions answered from verified knowledge. 80% of questions were answered from CAMP content. The rest were not guessed at, and those gaps now show the team where documentation needs to grow.
- Thousands of cases a month, no migration. Steady global case volume is handled on the same Zendesk desk CAMP already ran.
- From proof of concept to paid deployment. CAMP moved from a measured proof of concept to an ongoing production deployment.
Why Aviation Software Teams Choose IrisAgent
- Grounded, not guessed. Answers trace to your own documentation and resolved cases. When the knowledge is not there, the AI declines, which is the only acceptable behavior in a regulated industry.
- Proven on your data before you commit. Run a proof of concept on your real questions and review every answer before rollout.
- No re-platforming. IrisAgent layers onto Zendesk, Salesforce, and other helpdesks you already run.
